ON THE TOWN: If you’ve ever been to the 23rd floor of the Hollywood Holiday Inn, home of the neo-legendary Revolving Lounge, you get the impression from the panoramic view that all the world’s a stage. So it’s somehow appropriate that the lounge will serve as the new home for “The Cutting Edge Happy Hour,” a revamped version of I.R.S. Record’s eclectic new-music TV show that (until recently) had been a monthly staple on MTV. The new “Cutting Edge” returns to MTV June 25 at 7:30 p.m. (with a rebroadcast June 28 at the same time), set in what producer Carl Grasso calls a “private party” atmosphere. The show’s debut talent lineup is still being firmed up, but Grasso is certain of the ambiance he’s after: “We’re looking to bring the pop-fizz of ‘Hullaballoo,’ the intimacy of ‘Playboy After Dark, the cosmo cool of ‘Dean Martin’ and a bit of ‘Green Acres’ charm.” . . . KROQ’s free lunchtime concert series resumes June 30 with a concert by Joan Jett & the Blackhearts at the Country Club. The show begins at noon. . . . And Peter Holsapple of the dB’s will perform solo at Al’s Bar tonight, where he’ll preview his band’s upcoming album, “The Sound of Music,” which is due Aug. 10 on I.R.S.
