British Civil Servants on Strike

LONDON —
British docks and airports were in chaos today as 200,000 civil servants staged a two-day strike over “poverty wages” timed to coincide with the final days of the country’s general election campaign.
The English Channel ports of Dover and Ramsgate were reported jammed with hundreds of heavy trucks, held up by customs officers who walked out Sunday morning, 24 hours earlier than expected. British Airways canceled virtually all its domestic flights and about 50% of its scheduled European flights.
