Oxy will appeal a $412-million damage award.
The verdict by a federal jury in Wyoming was recently affirmed by a U.S. district judge, who lowered damages from $549 million but refused to overturn the finding. The damages were awarded to Colorado Interstate, a unit of Coastal Corp. of Houston, against MidCon Corp., a pipeline subsidiary of Occidental Petroleum of Los Angeles, in a dispute over natural gas prices. Oxy said it will appeal to the 10th U.S. Circuit Court, which it said previously ruled against Colorado Interstate on similar issues.
