The Atlanta police chief testified in a federal grand jury probe of the city’s handling of allegations that former Georgia state Sen. Julian Bond and other prominent residents used cocaine. Police Chief Morris Redding spent 2 1/2 hours with the jury, which reconvened after a three-week recess. Redding’s attorney, Bruce Kerwin, said Redding testified voluntarily and did nothing wrong in the city’s handling of Alice Bond’s charges that her estranged husband used cocaine.
