Saudis Impose Travel Restrictions on Young

RIYADH, Saudi Arabia — The government has restricted foreign travel for young people under 21 to keep them out of trouble abroad, local newspapers reported Sunday.
They said the Interior Ministry has issued a directive at the start of the summer travel season banning young people from leaving the kingdom unless accompanied by an older family member or unless they have written parental permission.
The vice minister of the interior, Prince Ahmed ibn Abdulaziz, said experience has shown that young Saudis are open to “seduction” abroad, causing extra work for Saudi embassies obliged to solve their problems.
The new directive will also encourage internal tourism, he added.
