A $14-million labor contract was approved by the 8,500-member San Diego County Employees’ Assn., the Board of Supervisors announced Tuesday.

The agreement, which gives workers, on the average, a 4% wage increase, was hammered out in a 32-hour session over the Memorial Day weekend after three months of talks, union officials said.

The 18-month contract received “about a 70%” favorable vote from association members, a spokeswoman said.

The association is the largest of six organizations representing the county’s 13,000 employees. There are no negotiations under way with the other labor organizations.

The terms of the contract go into effect July 3, association officials said.
