The New York Yankees’ Charles Hudson, who opened the season with six victories, was optioned to Columbus of the Triple-A International League Saturday.

The Yankees called up Bob Tewsksbury from Columbus to replace Hudson. Tewskbury joined the club Saturday and is scheduled to start in Hudson’s place today against the Boston Red Sox.

Hudson (7-2) pitched three innings of one-hit relief Friday night to earn the victory in the Yankees’ 13-inning 10-5 win over the Boston Red Sox. Hudson had been winless since May 15, and had given up 20 earned runs in his previous 21 innings. Hudson has a 3.62 earned-run average this season with 53 strikeouts and 30 walks in 82 innings.

Hudson was acquired by the Yankees in an off-season trade that sent Mike Easler to Philadelphia. The Yankees have since reacquired Easler.
