West Germany has decided not to extradite to the United States alleged hijacker Mohammed Ali Hamadi, fearing for the lives of two West German hostages kidnaped in Lebanon, the Die Welt newspaper said, quoting unidentified government sources. Also, the newspaper Welt am Sonntag reported that Chancellor Helmut Kohl had received the impression from President Reagan at the recent Venice economic summit544499809the decision to try Hamadi in West Germany. Hamadi is sought for trial in the United States in connection with the June, 1985, hijacking of a TWA airliner to Beirut and the killing of a U.S. Navy diver aboard the plane.
