2 Workmen Injured in Electrical Accident

Share

Two Department of Water and Power workmen were injured Monday when there was a giant electrical arc between power cables they were working on in an underground vault at 8th Street and Grand Avenue, said department spokesman Ed Freudenberg.

Both men were taken to Los Angeles County-USC Medical Center, but one of them, identified only as Roosevelt Thompson, was treated for minor burns and released. The other man, identified only as John Jones, was admitted in serious condition.

The arc briefly interrupted the electric supply to three nearby buildings, the First Interstate Bank, Broadway Plaza and Fairmont Indemnity Insurance Building.
