Ticket sales for the 1987 Los Angeles Festival have surpassed the $1-million mark, according to Rick Miramontez, festival press director.
“This is in mail orders alone,” said Miramontez, who added that these sales, over a period of seven weeks, represent about 40% of the available tickets.
Miramontez said he expects many of the events, including Peter Brook’s nine-hour production of “The Mahabharata” from France and the circus extravaganza “Le Cirque du Soleil” from Canada, to sell out well in advance of the festival’s start Sept. 3.
Tickets for all events will be available July 24 at Ticketron outlets and the Embassy Hotel’s box office at 851 S. Grand Ave.
