Whittier : School Chief’s Last Meeting

Tonight will be the final school board meeting for Supt. Norman B. Eisen, who retires June 30 from the Whittier Union High School District after 36 years.

Eisen began as a teacher at Whittier High School in 1951, then became director of educational services responsible for compensatory education, vocational education, summer school and health education. He became an assistant superintendent in 1973 and superintendent in 1978.

Eisen’s replacement is Lee Eastwood, assistant superintendent for business and operations of the Huntington Beach Union High School District. Eastwood has a master’s degree in history from California State University, Long Beach, and a doctorate in educational administration from USC.
