Israel to Provide Iran Arms Data

Associated Press

Israel has agreed to give congressional investigators documents relating to Israeli arms sales to Iran, but an Israeli official said today the deal prevents the Iran- contra committees from sharing the information with special prosecutor Lawrence E. Walsh.

However, Sen. Daniel K. Inouye (D-Hawaii), chairman of the Senate investigating committee, who opened today’s hearings by announcing the agreement, offered a different interpretation of the deal. Inouye said it would provide investigators with significant new information. “The Israeli government will provide us with financial and other detailed information relating to the Iran arms sale,” he said.
