A Japanese banker urged studying B of A's plea.

He said BankAmerica's need for fresh capital from Japanese banks should be carefully studied. BankAmerica Vice Chairman Frank Newman went to Japan last week asking 23 banks to buy $350 million of its $1-billion stock and note offering to raise more cash for the financially troubled banking company. "I personally believe we should study BankAmerica's request from the broader point of view," said Kenichi Kamiya, president of the Federation of Bankers Assns. of Japan.
