Costa Mesa : Program Will Train Teachers to Aid Dyslexics
A special teacher training program to help dyslexics--people who have a handicap that affects their reading--will be held July 13 to 24 at Orange Coast College.
The program is for credentialed teachers and is being sponsored by the Orange County branch of the Orton Dyslexia Society.
The training program includes all materials needed, and persons completing the course can earn three units of credit from the University of Wisconsin. The cost of the program is $330, and it is limited to 20 persons.
Robert Nash, president of the Wisconsin branch of the Orton Dyslexia Society, will be the instructor for the Orange County program. Nash is founder and director of Project Success at the University of Wisconsin at Oshkosh, a nationally acclaimed program for adult dyslexics.
The training program will be held weekdays from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Information on registration may be obtained by calling (714) 786-0344.
