An AIDS patient who bit a jail deputy trying to break up a fight between inmates reportedly will be charged with attempted murder if the Kern County Sheriff’s Department has its way. The Bakersfield Californian said Stephen Douglas Arendes, 33, of Bakersfield, who is being held on a drug charge and who told deputies he has acquired immune deficiency syndrome, was fighting with another inmate when Deputy Francis Moore tried to interfere.
