Shootings on Southland Freeways

Originally intended to protect our civil rights in 1787, our right to bear arms in 1987 has backfired. Instead our rights have been taken away. Now it is even unsafe to ride as a passenger in a car. If the guy behind me happens to be a lunatic and doesn’t like my driving or my car, my hair, or the way I looked in the rear view mirror, I could be shot. The shocking incident which occurred to the young man riding as a passenger with his son in the back seat (Metro, June 22), is an example of what I am talking about. That young man no longer had any rights when he was fatally shot in the neck by a passing maniac.

Back in 1787 carrying firearms was a right that the fathers of our country wanted protected. In 1987, we need gun control so that we can have our freedom protected. We need to have the freedom to walk down the street and feel safe at night. We need the freedom to ride safely in our cars and not worry that the guy next to us is going to pull out a gun and end our life. It is time to gain back the freedom intended by our Constitution.
