In the ambitious 1985 TV movie version of Anna Karenina (CBS Sunday at 8 p.m.), Jacqueline Bisset stands out in one of her most demanding assignments with her strong, poignant portrayal of Tolstoy’s ill-fated heroine. Christopher Reeve is the dashing Count Vronsky, and Paul Scofield is Anna’s cold, much older husband.

Bud Cort stars in the new TV movie Bates Motel (NBC Sunday at 9 p.m.) as an ex-mental patient who inherits the famous--and now haunted--”Psycho” motel from Norman Bates; let’s hope all this is not intended to be taken too seriously.

More standard is the 1984 TV movie Best Kept Secrets (ABC Sunday at 9 p.m.) in which Patty Duke stars as a patrolman’s wife who risks everything to expose a police spying operation. Frederic Forrest (as the patrolman) and Peter Coyote co-star.

On a lighter note, there’s an animated version of the Kenneth Grahame children’s classic, The Wind in the Willows, on ABC Sunday at 7 p.m.

Shattered Vows (NBC Monday at 9 p.m.) is another fairly standard TV movie, a 1984 production starring Valerie Bertinelli as a young nun torn by her love for a priest (David Morse) and desire for a family. Patricia Neal co-stars as her mother superior. The film is based on the memoirs of Dr. Mary Gilligan Wong, now a clinical psychologist.

The Comedians (Channel 7 Monday at 8 p.m.), based on the Graham Greene novel about political unrest in Haiti, is one of the better Elizabeth Taylor-Richard Burton movies and features splendid support from Lillian Gish, Paul Ford and Peter Ustinov.

Take Down (Channel 5 Tuesday at 8 p.m.) is an easily overlooked but noteworthy 1978 film that views the world of high school wrestling with both humor and seriousness. Lorenzo Lamas and Edward Herrmann star.

Fast Times at Ridgemont High (CBS Tuesday at 9 p.m.) may well play better on the tube, for its box-office emphasis on sex and nudity, surely toned down for TV, took away from the 1982 film’s numerous believable San Fernando Valley young people, played by then-newcomers Jennifer Jason Leigh, Sean Penn and Judge Reinhold. Amy Heckerling directed Cameron Crowe’s chronicle of the year (1979-80) he spent posing as a high school student to find out what teen-agers are all about.

Also airing Tuesday at 9 p.m. (on NBC) is the 1986 TV movie Popeye Doyle, in which Ed O’Neill (now of “Married . . . With Children”) has the thankless task of re-creating the role of a tenacious New York cop that brought Gene Hackman an Oscar in “The French Connection.”

Alan Arkush’s Rock ‘n’ Roll High School (Channel 5 Wednesday at 8 p.m.) is so anarchic it’s enough to bring out the square in you, but it is also high-energy fun, starring such B-movie icons as P.J. Soles, Mary Woronov (as the horrid principal) and Paul Bartel and featuring the Ramones.

Mel Brooks’ misfired remake of To Be or Not to Be, in which he stars with Anne Bancroft, airs Wednesday at 9 p.m. on Channel 11.

Consenting Adults (ABC Friday at 9 p.m.), the outstanding 1985 TV movie based on the Laura Z. Hobson novel, stars Marlo Thomas and Martin Sheen as parents who are devastated when their college sophomore son (Barry Tubbs) reveals to them that he is gay.

Frenzy (Channel 13 Saturday at 8 p.m.), the best late (1972) Hitchcock film, stars Jon Finch as one of the master of suspense’s classic wrongly accused heroes, a man believed to be a strangler terrorizing London.
