In two Pakistani cities, pro-Khomeini Iranians armed with automatic weapons and grenade launchers attacked supporters of the Moujahedeen, the main Iranian opposition group. Two people were killed and 19 injured, said police, who recovered grenade launchers, grenades and automatic weapons and arrested six people after the fighting in Karachi and Quetta. One officer said he was surprised at the quantity of arms found at residences of the Moujahedeen backers. About 17,000 Iranians opposed to the regime led by the Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini live in those cities.
