Supply Problem

I was amused by the June 22 story, “Paris Air Show a Spectacular Showcase to Market Planes.”

Donald A. Poland, spokesman for Rockwell International, builder of the B-1B bomber, proudly touted his company’s product.

Then we learned that the $280-million B-1B was unable to leave the air show because the electrical system on the plane was incompatible with the supply available at the French airport.

With 100 B-1B bombers being delivered to the Air Force next year, I’m hoping the problem can be solved before our next war. After all, it will take an awfully long extension cord to reach from Edwards AFB to any of our foreign bases. Or will the B-1B stay only in the good ol’ U.S.A.?
