Traffic Tied Up Near Fairgrounds
As expected, traffic slowed to a crawl, and at times a standstill, in the areas near the Orange County Fairgrounds and the Pacific Amphitheatre on Saturday night, Costa Mesa police reported.
The traffic snarl resulted from a concert at the amphitheater and the simultaneous activities and crowds at the county fair.
No major accidents and no injuries resulted because of Saturday night’s traffic, said Sgt. Ron Smith. “But I’d say we approached gridlock in the areas around Fairview and Fair (streets),” he said.
The traffic became especially bad “as soon as it got dark,” Smith said, and the situation continued well into the night.
“We anticipated this, and we put everything on two feet out there tonight to help with the traffic.”
