Share

The Orange County Performing Arts Center has tapped actress-singer Bernadette Peters, New York City Ballet principal dancers Heather Watts and Jack Soto and the New American Orchestra for an Oct. 3 concert marking the Center’s first anniversary.

Dubbed “Encore,” the concert will feature Peters singing pop songs and Broadway show tunes and Watts and Soto in a joint performance.

Jack Elliott will conduct the New American Orchestra in the world premiere of a new work. And two as-yet-unnamed young U.S. opera singers will sing duets and arias from well-known operas.

Priority tickets priced at $500, which includes admission to the concert and a backstage party with the performers, are being offered to the Center’s major donors until Aug. 7.

After that date, any remaining priority tickets will be offered to the center’s support guilds, then to the public. Admission to the concert only will be $35 and $75, depending on seating.

Proceeds will go toward offsetting the $4.1-million operating deficit incurred since the Center opened on Sept. 29, 1986.
