Kaypro Reports a Net Loss for Period on Higher Revenue

Kaypro Corp. reported an $803,619 net loss and revenue that rose by 27% to $26.2 million for the third quarter ended May 29. Kaypro reported an $809,636 net profit during the third quarter a year ago.

The Solana Beach computer manufacturer blamed the third-quarter loss on price discounts, increased promotional and advertising expenses and a $322,000 tax-loss-carried-forward reversal. Kaypro also opened five sales and service centers in the United States and Europe.

Kaypro reported a $1.3-million net profit for the nine-month period, and revenue that rose by 54% to $85 million. The company reported a $905,301 net loss during the same period a year ago.
