Home Shopping Network might sue GTE Corp.

The fast-growing pioneer of video retailing said its board will decide “probably within 30 days” whether to sue GTE for “a very large amount of money” over sales Home Shopping says it lost in the year’s first half because of problems in the telephone system it bought from GTE. Home Shopping Chairman Roy Speer said profit margins have been squeezed as the company attempts to regain customers lost because of the problem. The video retailer also said it expects to announce soon an agreement to buy a privately held repackager of pharmaceuticals for about $10 million in stock.
