East German Flies Out

WEST BERLIN —
A young East German army cadet escaped to West Berlin on Wednesday by flying a single-engine plane across the fortified border, a British military official reported. The cadet, identified only as 18-year-old Tomas K., landed the plane at a British airstrip at Gatow, just across the border from the East German city of Potsdam.
