There was hardly a dry eye in the Dutch capital Wednesday after a truck spilled its entire load of 78,000 onions on a busy city-center street. Police spokesman Cornelus Hoogervorst said that the city cleaning service has called in vacuum vehicles to suck up the scattered vegetables. “What with all the rain we’ve had today, it made a lovely onion soup,” he remarked.
