Reynolds Metals Co. said its net income rose 170%,to $51.1 million in the second quarter. The Richmond, Va.-based company attributed the improved earnings to the cumulative results of ongoing cost-reduction efforts, the strength of certain overseas operations and the benefits of restructuring.
