Diceon’s Third-Quarter Results Increase 28%

Diceon Electronics Inc. of Irvine, a rapidly growing manufacturer of complex multilayer printed circuit boards, reported a 28% increase in net income for fiscal 1987’s third quarter, to $2.6 million from $2 million a year earlier. Revenue for the period ended June 27 climbed 36%, from $22.1 million to $30.1 million.

The company recently acquired Symtron Corp. of Mountain View, a manufacturer of “backpack” circuit boards, and has restated its fiscal 1986 and 1987 financial results to include Symtron as if it had been part of Diceon in both years.

As a result of the acquisition and of internal growth, Diceon’s annual sales are expected to increase by more than 60% this year, from $64.7 million in 1986 to an estimated $108 million for 1987, the company said.

The company is the nation’s largest independent manufacturer of multilayer circuit boards, which are used primarily in mainframe computers and minicomputers.

Diceon is in the process of buying two new manufacturing plants in Santa Ana and Irvine and is expected to add 500 workers to its payroll of about 1,300. Diceon already operates two plants in Irvine, two in Chatsworth, three in Mountain View and one in Nashua, N.H.
