Talks Break Down Between Evans, Rams

Share

The agent for the Rams’ second-round draft choice, Donald Evans, said Friday that contract negotiations with the team have broken down, and unless there is a breakthrough, his client will not report at the start of training camp Sunday.

Steve Weinberg, who represents the defensive end from Winston-Salem State, said the Rams and Evans have reached agreement on a signing bonus and the first two years of a proposed four-year contract.

Weinberg is seeking incentive clauses in the third and fourth years to reward Evans should he develop into a star. But the Rams have apparently made their final offer, Weinberg said.
