MORE ‘BABYSITTING’

Share

With regard to Franklin’s indignation over the racism in “Adventures in Babysitting”:

The very notion of portraying a funky South Side Chicago blues bar’s audience as predominantly black is quite shocking. The idea of showing inner-city street gangs as being mostly black and Hispanic is truly unforgivable.

Actually, I’m still very upset with the makers of “Platoon” and “Full Metal Jacket” for casting all Orientals to play the Viet Cong. Shouldn’t there have ben an even mix of Caucasians? It is a very similar form of “racism” that can be found in “Adventures in Babysitting.”

Thank you, I feel much better now. Misplaced, self-righteous liberal guilt can be a horrendous burden.
