Supporters of Norma Jean Almodovar, former meter maid and call girl who ran for lieutenant governor on the Libertarian ticket last year, picketed the home of Dist. Atty. Ira Reiner to protest the prison sentence she now faces on a pandering conviction. The two dozen demonstrators accused Reiner of singling Almodovar out for special action in retaliation for her authorship of a book critical of the Los Angeles Police Department. Almodovar, 36, faces four years in prison on the charge, which stems from her alleged attempt to recruit another meter maid into prostitution. She spent 50 days in prison on the charge before being released on probation by a judge who said the longer sentence would be cruel and unusual punishment, but the probation was revoked on an appeal by the district attorney’s office.
