Paine Webber Group posted a 146% increase in second-quarter earnings to $17.6 million. The New York company cited the profit from its fixed income division, which were more than twice what they were last year, and the institutional equity division, which also had a twofold increase in profit, for its strong performance. Revenues from the investment banking division and high-yield activities were also improved, the company said. Revenue was up 5% to $637,570,000.
