Union Pacific Railroad said it will close eight train dispatching centers and centralize their functions in Omaha as part of a major restructuring that will eliminate 600 jobs. Two-thirds of the jobs are management and the rest are union personnel. About 290 jobs will be eliminated in Kansas City, Mo. Another 250 jobs will be abolished in Salt Lake City, and 180 jobs will be eliminated in Spring, Tex., near Houston.
