Hal McRae was dropped from the Kansas City Royals’ roster and will become the team’s full-time hitting instructor unless he signs with another club. McRae appeared in only 18 games this season, with 10 hits in 32 at-bats. Third baseman Bill Pecota, batting .309 at Triple-A Omaha, will take McRae’s spot on the roster.
