The City of Santa Monica has sued the corporate owners of the Bob’s Big Boy restaurant chain, asking that the restaurants be forced to serve physically handicapped patrons who are accompanied by specially trained service dogs. The Los Angeles Superior Court complaint alleges that two Big Boy restaurants in Santa Monica--at 2906 Santa Monica Blvd. and at 3040 Ocean Park Blvd.--have refused service to individuals who need the animals to help maneuver their wheelchairs and retrieve items that are dropped.
