MOTION PICTURE ACADEMY VOTES IN 12 GOVERNORS

Nine incumbents are among the dozen governors voted to the 1987-88 Board of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences this week. All were elected to three-year terms.

Returning to the board are Karl Malden, representing the academy’s actors branch; Joseph Westheimer, cinematographers; Gilbert Cates, directors; Robert Rehme, executives; Ralph E. Winters, film editors; John Addison, music; Richard D. Zanuck, producers; Charles M. Powell, public relations and Hal Elias, short films.

Newly elected to the board were Albert Wolsky of the academy’s art directors branch; Kay Rose, representing the sound branch; and Melville Shavelson of the writers branch.

Governors continuing on the 36-member board are Richard Crenna and Jack Lemmon, actors branch; Gene Allen and Jerry Wunderlich, art directors; William Fraker and Ted Voightlander, cinematographers; Franklin J. Schaffner and Robert E. Wise, directors; Frank G. Mancuso and Marvin E. Mirisch, executives; Donn Cambern and Eve Newman, film directors; Alan Bergman and Ernest Gold, music; Samuel Goldwyn Jr. and Herb Jaffe, producers; Richard Kahn and Jonas Rosenfield Jr., public relations; June Foray and William C. Littlejohn, short films; John A. Bonner and Tex Rudloff, sound; and Norman Corwin and Fay Kanin, writers.
