Tons of Gold Ore Stolen, Chinese Say

BEIJING — Hundreds of tons of gold ore are being stolen from state-run mines by armed thieves, farmers and processing plant workers, the China Daily reported Tuesday.
During the last six months in Henan province, up to 1,000 people have sneaked into the Xiaoqinlin mine to steal gold ore. At the Shanggong mine in Luoning County, thieves armed with knives and explosives took 800 tons of gold ore away in 40 trucks, the paper said.
