RIALTO, Calif. — Explosions rocked two buildings at a fireworks plant Tuesday, killing one person and injuring another, authorities said.
Smoke billowed from a charred crater at the site of the blasts shortly after the explosions occurred at 3:30 p.m.
“We have several companies up here that produce fireworks for show spectaculars at places like Disneyland and Knott’s Berry Farm,” said Lt. Brian Hebberd of the Rialto Police Department.
The explosion was believed to be at the Astro Pyrotechnics plant, one one of several fireworks manufacturers in this city in San Bernardino County.
He said police were still searching for the cause of the explosions late Tuesday afternoon and had not identified the victims of the blast. He did not know if the injured person had been hospitalized.
