Slain Artist’s Husband Faces Charges

Charles Russ, the husband of slain artist Pamela Russ, will surrender today to be arraigned on felony charges of grand theft and forgery, his attorney, Peter Hughes, said Wednesday.
A warrant has been issued alleging that Russ bilked his mother-in-law, Ginger Allen, of $83,000 in a transaction involving the mortgage on her home in Encinitas. Allen has filed a civil suit against Russ and obtained a court order stopping him from spending $600,000 from his late wife’s life insurance policy.
Pamela Russ, 33, was killed in early February when she was run over by her own Mercedes-Benz along North Torrey Pines Road in La Jolla.
Sources close to the murder investigation said the Grand Jury is probing the mysterious death, but that Charles Russ has not been targeted and no indictments are expected soon.
