The stage has been set for a potential meeting between Chris Evert and Martina Navratilova--it would be their 74th--in the $250,000 Virginia Slims of Los Angeles at the Manhattan County Club in Manhattan Beach. Evert has joined the field, according to tournament director Jan Diamond.
The 56-draw event, which has a top prize of $50,000, will be played Aug. 10-16. Evert is representing the United States in Federation Cup play this week in Vancouver, along with Pam Shriver and Zina Garrison. Shriver and Garrison are also entered at Manhattan Beach.
