Steven Spielberg’s “Amazing Stories”--a ratings flop on NBC (it ranked 62nd out of 104 network series for the season) and no longer a prime timer--is making its way around the world as a motion-picture anthology. And the “movie”--comprising three TV episodes--is attracting audiences.

Said Marvin Levy, marketing consultant to Spielberg’s Amblin Entertainment, “It’s performing very good to excellent in the Far East and just fair in the European territories where it’s just opened.”

(For example, it ranked sixth in Hong Kong last week with $615,000 after 35 days, behind “Lethal Weapon,” among others.)

It’s played in Germany, Italy and France. Still to come are dates in Japan, Spain, Australia and Latin America.

Running slightly more than two hours, “Amazing” features the Spielberg-directed “The Mission,” starring Kevin Costner; the Robert Zemeckis-directed “Head of the Class,” starring Christopher Lloyd, and “Mummy Daddy,” directed by William Dear (recently of “Harry and the Hendersons”) and starring Tom Harrison.
