National Intergroup reported a $300,000 increase in earnings to $1.8 million for the first quarter of its 1988 fiscal year, compared to the year-ago period. The Pittsburgh holding company said its balance sheet was strengthened during the quarter by the sale of a 55.3% limited partner’s interest in its Permian Partners, L.P., subsidiary, which raised approximately $200 million to help reduce outstanding debt.
