Placentia : School District Names Superintendent’s Aide

Sharon K. McHolland has been named the new assistant superintendent of educational services in the Placentia Unified School District. She succeeds Violet Bryant, who retired in June.

Before being promoted to assistant superintendent, McHolland had been director of curriculum and staff development since 1985. She was principal of Glenkoll Elementary School in Placentia in 1980-83 and was the district’s director of special projects in 1983-85.

Supt. Jim Fleming, in announcing McHolland’s promotion, said: “We are pleased to promote a member of our staff to this important position. Sharon McHolland’s wide variety of experience will serve her and the schools well.”

Before joining the Placentia district in 1980, McHolland was an assistant principal in the Santa Ana Unified School District.

McHolland has a doctorate in education from the University of LaVerne. She and her husband, Robert, live in Irvine.
