Fourth-Seeded Fairbanks Is Upset in Second Round of San Diego Tennis
Fourth-seeded Rosalyn Fairbanks of San Diego was upset by unseeded Nathalie Herreman, of France, 7-6 (7-4), 6-3, Tuesday in the second round of the $75,000 Virginia Slims of San Diego tennis tournament at the San Diego Tennis and Racquet Club.
Top-seeded Lori McNeil, ranked No. 11 in the world, defeated Sabrina Goles of Yugoslavia, 6-4, 6-3. McNeil, of Houston, has a bye today and will play unseeded Peanut Louie Harper Thursday night.
Annabel Croft of England, the 1985 San Diego champion, was defeated by Sharon Walsh-Pete, 5-7, 6-4, 6-1.
The tournament continues through Sunday.
