PacifiCare Health Reports Profit Rise

PacifiCare Health Systems Inc., a Cypress-based pre-paid health plan operator, said Wednesday that its third-quarter profits were $817,000, about 6% higher than the $771,000 posted a year ago.

Revenues in the period ended June 30 were $83.9 million, up 73% from the $48.5 million recorded in the prior year’s quarter.

For the nine months ended June 30, the company reported profits of $2.1 million, unchanged from the prior year. Revenues were $221.2 million, up 90% from the $116.2 million posted in the prior year.
