Fullerton : Nursing Center Accused of Health Violations

Share

The State Department of Health Services has filed a lawsuit accusing CareWest-Fullerton Nursing Center of endangering its patients by repeated violations of state health laws.

CareWest-Fullerton, a nursing facility in Fullerton on North Harbor Boulevard, was fined $50,000 last August and was cited for a series of violations, according to the complaint filed Wednesday in Orange County Superior Court.

Offenses cited by state health officials included not properly planning patients’ care and not promptly notifying physicians of changes in a patient’s condition, the complaint said.

The suit also accused the facility of failing to give each patient care to prevent ulcers and deformities.

CareWest-Fullerton contested the citations and penalties when they were filed last year. The state’s lawsuit now asks that those penalties be enforced against the facility and its parent company, Care Enterprises West.

A supervisor and executives of the defendant companies declined comment Wednesday.
