Yorba Linda : Ex-Mortgage Official Files $6-Million Lawsuit

Share

A dispute between Yorba Linda Mortgage and its former president erupted Wednesday into a $6-million lawsuit.

Dean M. Brewer, former company president, alleged that he was hired in January, 1985, and then was discharged eight months later without explanation.

The suit filed Wednesday in Orange County Superior Court contended that the firing initially forced Brewer into bankruptcy.

Then in April, 1986, Yorba Linda Mortgage and the Bank of Yorba Linda sued Brewer and his wife, Nancy, alleging that they had conspired to defraud the bank, according to the suit. That action was dismissed eight months later because, “it was in fact frivolous and without merit,” the suit stated.

Brewer alleged that the defendants’ actions were “out of spite and ill will” and that he was used “as a scapegoat” for “various erroneous decisions . . . by the board of directors and chairman of the board of the bank and the mortgage company.”

Brewer has asked $90,000 in unpaid wages, plus other damages.

Yorba Linda Mortgage and the Bank of Yorba Linda could not be reached Wednesday for comment.
