Auburn quarterback Jeff Burger’s college football career...
Auburn quarterback Jeff Burger’s college football career is in jeopardy after an academic honesty committee recommended he be suspended for two quarters and receive an “F” for plagiarism.
Berger, a senior, said he will appeal the recommendation to higher university officials who have the ultimiate decision on student penalties.
The academic honesty committee is made up of four professors and three students.
Burger, who led Auburn to a 10-2 record last season, also could be ruled ineligible for the 1987 season as a result of an early-morning fight last month. He was bailed out of jail by assistant coach Pat Sullivan in possible violation of National Collegiate Athletic Assn. rules.
