Health Care Task Force

Share

Your article on the United Way Health Care Task Force report (July 27) stated that Maria Boici, a sickly Romanian widow, is among the 1,800 Orange County recipients of general or “last resort” welfare to support the poor.

This woman has been in the U.S. since 1981 and she still needs an interpreter! How does she or anyone expect to support themselves if unable to speak English at least partially? Why aren’t her five children (ages 19 to 32) taking care of her? Why are those of us who have taken care of ourselves and our families, expected to support this woman and many others like her?

Due to the lax or ineffective immigration and welfare laws, our country is fast becoming a poor nation.
