LANCASTER, Ohio —
A single-engine biplane, involved in a mock dogfight with another biplane, plunged to earth in front of thousands of spectators at the Fairfield County Air Show on Saturday, killing the pilot, officials said.
The victim was identified as James King, 56, of Gahanna, a Columbus suburb. Police said King apparently died instantly when the plane crashed at the end of a runway at the county airport, 600 yards from the crowd of about 3,000.
