The convicted murderer of University of California track star Kerry A. Threets was sentenced to 27 years to life in prison.
Donald Ray Cartwright, 20, of Oakland was found guilty in the May, 1986, shooting death of Threets, a psychology student at California. Charles Tyrone Reed, 23, also charged in the murder, is scheduled to stand trial next month.
